Debris Free Seas Conference / by Manda Gorsegner

AmeriCorps volunteers lending a hand at Asbury Park in September.

The collaborative artist-Clean Ocean Action public mosaic project is well underway!  Artists have been on the beaches of Sandy Hook, Sea Bright, Asbury Park and Bradley Beach talking to communities, engaging volunteers to steward their beaches and pick up debris with Clean Ocean Action, and assisting artists in real-time to affix debris to murals on site.

Danielle Acerra and I have been working on the mural at the Asbury Park location.

The next opportunity to clean up the shores will be on Saturday, October 24th, during the biannual COA statewide beach sweeps.  Over 70 locations from Cape May to Montclair, New Jersey participate in this program twice a year.

The final pollution mosaics will be displayed at the Debris Free Seas Conference at Brookdale Community College, November 11, 2015.
